Our History
HOW WE STARTED
Vicalex was first conceptualized in the late 60’s by Dr. Alexander Atta Yaw Kyerematen – Founder of the Ghana National Cultural Center – and his wife Victoria Ama Amissa (nee Welsing). The children inspired by their parents’ efforts took up the mantle and in the early 80’s started producing burnt bricks alongside their pottery establishment at Mfensi (Kumasi), albeit on a small scale. Today Vicalex is the national leader in clay brick production.
